May punch 2023

On 17.05.2023, the annual May punch took place again. 35 students enjoyed delicious punch with or without alcohol while listening to exciting presentations about semesters abroad in South Korea, Chile and Finland.

Nico reported on his stay in Seoul, a city that has everything your heart desires. If you’re looking for a relaxed everyday university life in a metropolis where you never have to cook (restaurants and street food are very cheap), this is the place for you.

Hannes told us about his semester abroad in Valparaíso. Shared flats with a sea view, open and helpful people and beautiful landscapes were the cornerstones of his presentation. At the Federico Santa María Technical University, you can even take degree-related modules.

The final presentation was given by Theresia, who stood in for Anna, who had fallen ill and wanted to report on her stay in Sweden. With a presentation by Sofia about her semester abroad in Tampere, Finland, she put on an impeccable PowerPoint karaoke, supported by her own experiences in Tampere. Hikes in the nearby and beautiful nature are definitely part of the programme here. If you need a contrast, you can take part in the almost ritual drinking culture.

You will soon find the key dates of the semester abroad in the semester abroad list on Nextcloud, where you are also welcome to enter your experiences abroad.

After the lectures, we went on to the barbecue, which took place in great cooperation with the student council. While the drinks were sponsored by Kontakt e. V., the student council donated the barbecue food. As usual, the May punch was a great success.

Thanks to the lecturers and to all those who helped with shopping, making punch, chopping vegetables, cleaning up, carrying stuff and barbecuing and thus contributed to the success of the May Bowl!

FauSt 2023 (student group meeting on environmental study programs)

From 18 to 21 May 2023, the Sustainable Infrastructure Student Group hosted the FauSt at Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences. The participants were welcomed at the university’s new campus in beautiful Neuburg an der Donau. The four days were used for an intensive exchange between the different study programs, including the following groups:

  1. Working group organisation
  2. Working group on solving problems – lack of capacity, falling numbers of first-year students and high drop-out rates
  3. Working group on public relations for the FauSt and the study programs
  4. Working group on committee work – possibilities for recognising committee work
  5. Working group on focal points in the study programs
  6. Working group on sustainability

We also used the framework for an intensive exchange outside the working groups. We were able to get to know the former residential town of Neuburg better during lectures in the old municipal theatre and during a night watchman tour through the old town of the young university town. The stay in Neuburg was rounded off by participation in a simulation game on the Sustainable Development Goals.

The four days were not only characterised by productivity, but also by a strong sense of community. We would like to thank all the student representatives who enriched this Summer FauSt 2023. We would especially like to thank the Neuburg organising team. Thanks to them, the participating study programs are able to move forward with their work back home, full of new ideas. We look forward to seeing you again at the Winter FauSt in Bochum.
